Full Job Description

A temporary part time vacancy has arisen as a Common Room Attendant for the Students’ Association of Adam Smith College, at Mitchelston Campus, Kirkcaldy. The position is temporary (for at least one year) due to future plans of the College to relocate the courses being delivered at Mitchelston to Stenton Campus, Glenrothes.

Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 10 am – 2pm; minimum wage applies.

Job Description

 Supervising the use of the amusement machines within the common room
 Issuing change for the above mentioned machines and recording refunds
 Reporting breakdowns
 Observing and reporting any adverse behaviour of students within the common room
 Ensuring the common room is kept tidy and clean at all times
 Distributing and gathering information on behalf of the Students’ Association
 Carrying out all reasonable requests as instructed by the Development & Training Officer and/or President of the Students’ Association
 Providing first rate student relations at all times

As part of the selection process, references (employment and/or character) may be obtained on all potential new employees prior to the commencement of employment.

Self Disclosure (Character Enquiry):
The purpose of the Self Disclosure (Character Enquiry) Form is to allow applicants to disclose their convictions in full to ensure the Association can assess the disclosed information fairly and to make informed decisions as to whether or not the convictions are relevant to the post applied for.

Only offences that are deemed to be relevant to the post applied for will result in applications not been taken forward for interview.

Disclosure Scotland:
Appointment is subject to the express condition that the successful applicant undergoes a check as to the existence and content of any criminal record (known as an enhanced disclosure), as required under legislation in the Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003 (revised 11th April 2005) and Disclosure Scotland Act.
ASCSA may, following the check, terminate the contract with immediate effect if not satisfied of the suitability of the successful applicant for employment by reason of criminal record or antecedents. ASCSA reserves the right to determine this issue at its sole discretion.

Type of Disclosure Check Required:
All successful applicants are required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure (irrespective of post). The relevant payment for an Enhanced Disclosure will be made by ASCSA.

This position requires to be filled for the opening of the common room, week commencing 25th August 2008.
